This award is open to all undergraduate majors, both freshman and continuing students. This merit scholarship is based on academic performance. Students need not apply for The Hatcher Scholarship; however, additional information that any student wishes to submit is welcome (e.g., participation in mathematical/scientific competitions publications, references, etc.). The number and amount of awards can vary each year depending on the endowment and its earnings.

The scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Mathematics. Preference shall be given to students double majoring in statistics or computer science, who have an academic record of 3.0 or higher, and whose residence is Connecticut, New York, or Virginia. This scholarship is renewable to the same student annually as long as the student demonstrates high academic achievement.

This is open to all graduate students in the Ph.D. program in Mathematics. No application is necessary. Each September the graduate program committee of the Mathematics Department selects one Ph.D. student based on research.
